To remain competitive, the largest American manufacturer of preschool and toddler toys, and the world’s largest rotational molder of plastics, needed to perform a massive upgrade of their core enabling technology. ProSource was engaged to help design and implement a functional, secure, and effective Intranet/Extranet to facilitate team and project collaboration across the enterprise. In addition, they wanted to lay the groundwork for future advanced functionality including Web Content Management, Records Compliance, and the infrastructure to scale with their organizational growth.
To accelerate implementation of this solution, ProSource implemented a SharePoint MOSS Quick Start solution, featuring a high-level business assessment, followed by the installation and configuration of Office SharePoint Server 2007 within the Step2 enterprise. The project included one installation of MOSS in a production environment consisting of two Web-Front-Ends and one Index/Application server, as well as the hardware required to support this upgrade. In addition, ProSource also made strategic recommendations related to Active Directory accounts, governance processes, web applications, and oversaw the infrastructure coordination and audit.
Our client needed a way to connect and collaborate internationally with their manufacturing and engineering teams overseas. With a new and comprehensive SharePoint system in place, ProSource allowed the client to reduce cycle time, bring products to market faster, reduce manufacturing costs, and allow for collaboration around the world.
